May Arts Project for Round Two...

I am so excited to be sharing with you my project for the May Arts Ribbon Design Team Finalist submission. This will help determine if I make the design team. Which I so hope that I do. I thought long and hard what would be fun to make and really hope that it impresses you. I actually made a sample pillow before really deciding what I was going to do. I just love decorative pillows and thought why not make one. So here we go this is my tutorial on how I made this pillow. Can't wait to read what you think.
Recipe:  Clever handmade by Heidi Grace Kress Image, May Arts Ribbon BC14, 368-15-34 and 393-3-17, Blumenthal Craft Photo Fabric, HP ink jet printer, Muslin fabric, Sewing Machine, Thread, Needle, Maya Road wood buttons, Ek Success Cutterbee snips and pillow stuffing.
The image is printed onto the Photo Fabric
First you will want to sew the ribbon and create
a gathered look to the ribbon.
Once you have gathered the ribbon you will want to cut strips
and pin it to one piece of the muslin and the printed image.
Sew the ribbon all around the image...removing the pins as you sew.
Take the flower ribbon and cut out 4 flowers.
Trim the flowers around to create a clean edge.
Hand stitch the flowers onto each corner of the image.
Take your wood buttons and hand stitch them into the center of the flowers.
When you are done hand stitching it should look just like this.
Don't you just love this Clever Handmade Image by Heidi Grace Kress.
Next you will want to take the backing, the front and the other ribbon
and pin them together. To create a pip look around the edges fold
the ribbon in half while pinning together.
Sew all around the pillow leaving a three inch opening to pull the pillow right side out. Make sure and pull all the pins out while sewing together. You don't want to poke your fingers.
Now the fun part...adding the stuffing.  We are almost done.  Once you have stuffed the pillow to your comfort you will have to hand stitch that opening you left open.
And here is your final project.  You know have a cute decorative pillow.
whew...now that was fun.  I really had a great time coming up with this fun pillow. I am so excited to be in the finals for May Arts Ribbon design team. I love to craft and really enjoy challenging myself. I hope that I have inspired you and can't wait to read what you think.

Thank you so much for your support.
